What's the German word for when you feel pleasure that someone else agrees that something is shitty?
I hate that box so much, and I keep getting more annoyed with the OPUS guy who insisted it was a good machine and that I didn't know what I was talking about.

In other news, I used a Worldwide yesterday and I feel blessed to be back today with a Junk 3 and a beautiful functional Gen 2.

What is that box for? Its got button like a remote but I can't get it to do anything. I can't tell if the signal goes through the box or if it is parallel to the OBDII connector. Could I take the box off?

It is the OBD module interface itself, shit don't communicate without it.

I will never use a Worldwide again, I could not imagine anyone could make a T-Probe worse than ESP but here we are.

I don't get why it has to be on the car end then. The GEN 2 had it on the computer end which makes way more sense.

I don't think anyone cared about getting feedback before building it. And no one at BAR tested it and spoke up before approving it?

I'm gonna call OSHA though, it is a tripping hazard. It's this kind of crap that makes think the government needs to be outsourced to a private contractor. But then where would all lazy incompetent people work?

How much trouble would it have been to incorporate a DAD into the Gen3?   They'd have a interface that's supposed to be advanced and proven, and they stay with old tech?

From what I've seen and heard, I hope all the software they have right now is a joke.   Hopefully they're running legacy software under emulation, and when the time comes, they flip a switch, and the real program come on line.   Probably not.
Why make it simple, when it will work equally as well complicated.

I am almost certain that the wimpy sample hose on the ESP-3 wouldn't pass the BAR-97 spec. kink test.

Gen3 hose on Gen2 is a nice upgrade if your Gen2 hose seems too short at times. Whoever keeps their Gen2 running the longest with the oldest last serviced date will win a prize.

That won't be me. Mine got serviced this month. It was a battle to get them to do it but they came out and fixed the same thing twice during August.

I'm screwing up saying this but my one SPX keeps plugging along.

To answer all the questions above, WHY? Why make it better? SPX gone, the only true player is Opus. Why make a effort to make a good machine? Opus hold the State by the short hairs.

Yeah it's kind of amusing the agencies that legally force rapid technological change onto the automakers are incapable of forcing anything useful from the emissions testing companies.

Solution, legally force the automakers to design the emissions testing equipment. Imagine a Lexus BAR 97...clearly VW is not allowed of course.

Opus showed up with the new What ever. Suppose to make it work. Being the first one it took a while. Scary part is it took out the Cap checker board.

Got a look inside. Nice clean set up. Dell computer. Windows 10. Makes me believe I was right, all they did was write a program to slow down the system. Reading you guys stuff, it's still a old BAR 97 format.

Now I need to wait for the State.

This thing is such an absolute piece of garbage. This RPM nonsense with Ford coil packs is making me want to burn the shop down.

Re: ESP Gen 3 Review

Is it my imagination or does this thing always default to front wheel drive no matter what vehicle? The GEN 2 had a few that were wrong but I just ran a 1992 Toyota 4x4 pick up and it defaulted to front wheel drive so this time I just left it. I figure it doesn't matter anymore than what color cap adapter I say I'm using.

BTW, This was a test run to see how its working after its second repair in less than 1 week. It hasn't made it a full week yet without repair.

Re: ESP Gen 3 Review

Well I did twp on it yesterday. Damn it could sure use some improvements. Will it get any? HELL NO.
Hose and Tach lead WAY TO SHORT. Motor Homes are going to be a BIGGER BITCH.

The pass Fail thing is going to take some getting use to. Nice thing about SPX it never recorded a RPM for timing. THIS AFTER  it tells you to turn it off. Now you have to start the vehicle again. Do like the OBD test right after the ASM part. No that make sense.

People who were anything but ESP users and do not like change in their life are going to HATE IT

Yeah its fucking insulting how backwards it went. Take gas cap off, visual inspect, put back on car, oh take it off for pressure test now, fails, put back on car! Freezing during ASM and artificially extending the ASM test duration should invalidate the test results but oh well.

And yes None, everything is FWD now, I just leave it too.

Besta you don't have to capture RPM, doesnt affect test.

Learning the GEN III

Best Answer I Can Give
In reply to this post by D Rochells 150861
Any of you like me that have had SPX all the time GOOD LUCK. Don't get all up in arms about it. It's all there, you just have to look for it.
The one thing that is really missing is the way to change a Tach lead. SPX would let you go to a coil. The GEN III will not, unless some one knows how.

The big thing that has changed is the "Wording" Don't be afraid to look at all the Menu's when you are looking for something.

Done about 10 on it. Not bad just take some getting use to.
