Has anyone ran in to this issue using the OIS?

SamiTheSmogChick
When I've used the OIS to smog a gasoline 2000 & newer vehicle which is over 14,000 GVRW in the past it directs me to the Gen3 due to the weight.

Today, with a 2014 out-of-state vehicle weighing 16,000 the OIS did not direct me to the Gen3. It appeared as if it wanted to continue the smog using the OIS system. At that point I stopped and have been on hold with the BAR Help Desk for close to two hours now, nobody's answering.

Just wanted to know if anyone else has encountered something like this, as I am under the impression that gasoline powered 2000 and newer vehicles over 14,000lbs GVRW are supposed to be smog tested using the Gen3.

Thanks in advance.

none
I would double check that the VIN label doesn't say it is OBDII (which I'm sure it's not) and test it on the GEN 3.

Did it finish the OBD II portion of the test without the pop up window asking if it is OBDII certified?
Good judgement comes from experience. And experience? Well that comes from poor judgement.

Scroll down to What vehicles must be tested on the BAR-97 Emissions Inspection System (EIS)?

https://www.bar.ca.gov/Industry/BAR-OIS_FAQ

What is the VIN number?  I can decode it and see the GVWR of the build.
Why make it simple, when it will work equally as well complicated.

I never started the OBDII portion of the test, I just let it time out and log me off. In the past when attempting to smog a RV that was over the weight limit, the OIS immediately directed me to the Gen3, beginning the OBDII functional portion was not even an option.

The only time wasted was yours when you responded unnecessarily- not helpful, and wasted my time by causing me to think that someone else had new info to contribute to this conversation.

So, to everyone else- thank you for taking the time to voice your thoughts, as they helped us to figure out our next steps. Much appreciated.

To STAR is Racist- thanks for nothing.

You're calling BAR to ask a question you already know the answer to. BAR is a terrible source for information, they often give the wrong answer. That hits a bone of mine because I've seen my boss call them a few times to ask the most basic dumbass questions such as do we EVAP motorhomes? Can this CAT be on this vehicle? Can the air box be replaced with an open element filter? I don't call BAR for anything, most likely you'll be talking to someone that doesn't know shit.
