Just wondering if any technicians here have considered applying for a comfortable position at the Bureau. I looked into the pay and benefits of the job and it seems decent. I figured someone here looked more into it. Steady income seems so good to me now that i've been through the ups and downs of this business. My lease is ending soon and i'm thinking about jumping ship cause i dont want to have to re-establish a connection with new customers in a new area and have to deal with the BS that comes along with it. Working for BAR seems like an entertaining thought to be honest.
I applied the last time they had an opening. Had to keep sending my resume and application in every few weeks to month. Did it for 3 months till i was over it. You also have to take a test online for you can apply
The information you are looking for is found on the BAR web site.
It's a matter of "looking around" on their web site about employment
opportunities. Don't rely on this forum for correct answers.
You have to apply, wait for letter from the State employment agency,
wait to be chosen for an interview. It's a LONG process. You must
be Very Patient!!
I applied once, about three years ago. I didn't follow up on it, but I'm willing to try again. Of course, it's possible that I have a history of running my mouth on a public forum or two (or three), so that could be a deal-breaker right there, at least for me.
It is a pipe dream to think public employees pensions are safe. There unfunded and there is no Tax base to pay them. It is going to get worse.... The politicians promised them the moon with no way to pay...... How can you pay a retirement package greater than when you are working?
Maybe it is different now but openings are at the web site. You take the civil service test and if you are the top ten you have a chance, I was number eight last time (out of 400!!!) But when it comes to the oral interview they want a cowboy not a technician. They gave me scenarios that did not make sense and I failed miserably. Thinking back I am glad cause now having been on the wrong side I know I would have been miserable. Now I am too old and surely too wise to even consider a state job.
Again without having a clue you are right as rain! It would be so far from reality that I think many of us could dream but then the reality would be a nightmare! Just think all the logic that we learn thrown down the toilet. All the patience that is our job replaced by crossing t's and dotting I's. All the caring about a consumer replaced with caring about our supervisor. Yeah, guess it could have been different if I was accepted way back when......................................................
