I had two unusual customers, one was part of a surveillance team for the Sheriffs office who worked with BAR and the customer right after him was the former deputy district attorney of San Diego who also worked with BAR.
I thought oh shit, I really screwed up this time, but nope, these two were in here for their routine smogs, and they had coupons. Super random I would have people in here like that.
I smog many chp, very cool people learn a lot from them, (avoiding tickets etc.) In this area. the low income hard working customers never use coupon. But the mid class and up, always use coupon (San Diego North County.) I hated when customer give you the coupon after the smog, I always trying to be nice and said next time give it to me before the write up. <quote author="iha"> I charge a premium for any type of exotic or pain in the as* vehicle.. Do not care if they go some where else!
what is weird is that these guys came in with coupons ? it never ceases to amaze me on how Mercedes drivers and people who are well off are first to hunt down the coupons penny pinching bastards .
Reminds me of the time a dude with a new Mercedes-Benz was haggling over $5. I didn't budge. He drove away, but appeared back at my shop an hour later. Dipshiat probably spent $10 on gas trying to save $5.
That is pretty weird, but another thing that is equally as weird is how some of you look down on people who like to use coupons ... what is so bad about saving money? I love to save money and if that qualifies me as a cheap skate, or penny pincher or whatever else, so be it.
Its not the coupon customers that bother me, its people who pay full price and come back to me after the fact discovering I had one. In my station, when I make an appointment, I don't discuss price of a test, this is because I have no way of knowing if they have a coupon in front of them. I don't look down upon those who do save money but, its the attitude I get that can come off the wrong way, and I think every tech here knows what I am talking about when you are in the business for a while. You pick up on it and it rubs off on you.
I know in the past a lot of us have done some customer bashing and smack talking and it is wrong.
Not too long ago, I had a customer who drove a POS corolla into my station and always brought me coupon, the next car he brings in.......2001 Bentley Continental R, now he has been a loyal customer of mine since 2008 and never gave me an attitude. Yes I will gladly accept his coupon for the Bentley I am about to test.
Its not the fact that people use coupons my dears , its that they will drive their Mercedes to a European specialist to get their oil changed , to the dealer to get their tires rotated , but expect to pay a cheap price for a smog . I used to work at dealership where a smog was 79.00 out the door and that was 12 years ago ! I really like to see our everyday working folk use coupons , but to see our chp and people working for BAR use coupons ,people with 6 digit incomes ? come on .
