... and I do not go to 30+ to force a shift like most techs apparently ... You gotta overshoot the window and ease back down into the lower half, bro. It's no guarantee, but it's a huge help.

Your guys as well as myself are getting dinged because everyone else attempts to force an automatic upshift to achieve a higher gear ratio by overshooting target speed and then coasting down. So, have your guys make sure the gearbox shifts, or wear a Go Pro like me to fight back this affront to humanity.

http://stop-the-star-program.3084.x6.nabble.com/template/NamlServlet.jtp?macro=search_page&node=4339904&query=overshoot&n=4339904 There is no such thing as a deviation for RPM too low, unless it turns into an abort.

Incorrect gear selection dings know no national boundaries, in my experience. I'm just as likely to get one on a Honda as on a Dodge. My overshoot and lift-back technique has saved me from many dings, but some are just too stubborn even for that.

sometimes i change my shoes, move the seat, make sure my heel is touching the floor. it also helps if you stick your tounge out and say (no! no! no!) when the rpm is dropping or overshooting your target. hehe i do that s hit on the dyno if i get one of those cars or sticky honda throttle plates,. the only ones im really having a hard time is rx300 330 2wd . Thats my kryptonite, i end up doing tsi on those if i cant drive it.

My FPR is good because, i put the car in 2nd gear and do the test correctly, therefore more cars fail for emissions with me than the overshooters. It is not hard to shift the tranny, but it is harder to shift an honest persons behavior with alot of experience and even an ASE A2. One thing I...

So the consensus is, test in 2nd and 3rd, keeping rpm's low or overshoot to 3000 to shift down? It seems some do it by the book, and some don't and get the same results. My tech keeps stating that by doing it by the book, is the right way. It may be the right way, but if getting dinged, then it...
